What are the reasons for the overheating of diesel generator sets?
First, the blockage of the heat dissipation, cooling and lubrication systems of the diesel generator sets leads to overheating of the diesel generators;
Second, leakage in the cooling system and lubricating oil system leads to overheating of the diesel generators.
1. Blockage of heat dissipation, cooling and lubrication systems leads to overheating of diesel engines
Radiator or pipeline blockage
Once the radiator and pipeline are blocked, the cooling water cannot circulate and the diesel generator set will overheat.
1) Exhaust pipe blockage
When the exhaust pipe of the diesel generator set is blocked, the exhaust gas is not discharged smoothly when the diesel generator set is running, and part of the exhaust gas remains in the cylinder. When the next intake stroke is inhaled, due to the large amount of exhaust gas in the cylinder, the fresh oil-gas mixture cannot be fully in. When the spark plug is ignited, the flame propagation and combustion speed are slow, and the combustion time is very long, forming afterburning. Parts in contact with gas absorb heat and cannot release it due to the long combustion time, thus causing overheating; at the same time, due to the unsmooth exhaust gas discharge, the exhaust gas temperature rises significantly during exhaust, and the heat load of the entire diesel generator increases, causing the generator to overheat.
2) The diesel generator oil filter is blocked.
Under normal circumstances, the oil of the diesel generator enters the diesel engine through the oil filter. Once the oil filter is blocked, the oil enters the various lubrication points of the diesel engine through the bypass passage. In this way, the oil is not filtered and it is easy to block the oil pipeline, causing poor lubrication. The oil pipeline is blocked, and the heat generated by the friction pair cannot be dissipated, causing the generator to overheat.
3) The diesel generator oil filter is blocked.
The oil filter is set at the inlet of the oil absorber in the oil pan to remove foam and prevent larger debris from entering the oil pump. Once the oil filter is blocked, the lubricating oil supply of the diesel generator set is interrupted, which will cause dry friction of the friction pair of the diesel generator, thereby causing the generator to overheat.
2. Leakage in the cooling system and lubricating oil system causes diesel engine overheating
1) Radiator or pipeline leakage
The diesel generator set radiator or pipeline leaks. Due to the limited water storage capacity of the diesel generator set water tank, the generator will overheat.
2) Oil pan or oil pump leakage
The oil pan or oil pump leakage is mostly caused by loose drain plug or damaged gasket. The consequence of oil pan or oil pump leakage is that the diesel generator set oil supply is reduced or interrupted. Since the diesel generator reduces the cooling effect of the oil, the heat of the friction pairs of the diesel generator cannot be transferred, causing the generator to overheat.
